William Meyers is a writer and editor who went to Monday Night Class and lived on the Farm. He took Stephen Gaskins words and put them in to book form for a series of books on Monday Night class and the Farm and has been responsible for composing/typesetting several books since those early beatnik days.
William now hangs around New York City and Columbia University, where he works and pursues his causes (nonviolence, Huichol Indians, Tibetan Buddhism) and friendships (Richard Gere, the Dalai Lama). William was the first host for the Spring's Cultures Conference, which still continues and has many topics of interest to him. Currently, William writes a regular column for the New York Spirit.
His daughter
Christine Meyers
was in the Peace Corps in
Kazakhstan in central Asia. "Christine is back from the Peace Corps
now, by the way -- out from under the embarrassment of having George Bush as her
boss, with a portrait of him on the wall in the local office. She's working at a
clinic at American University in DC, and doing her pre-med work in preparation
for medical school later this year or the next," says William.
Christine says "I have been working for the past 9 years as a Physician Assistant. I have worked in a variety of different medical settings ranging from a private group practice to an urgent-care clinic to a nonprofit community health center (all in Seattle) . I worked for the past four years for Peace Corps as the Medical Officer for the programs in Macedonia and Kazakhstan." And on her philosophy, she says, "I believe that the "human touch" and good communication with patients are essential aspects of medical care. I value people and believe that everyone has the right to quality health care including the education and counseling that empower the individual to take better care of himself or herself."
She's a "Scuba Divemaster who enjoys hiking, running (ran the Venice Marathon), reading, and chess. Most importantly, I love to travel! Really loved Nepal, Laos, Uzbekistan, Tibet and New Zealand. Look forward to exploring other areas of the world."
William's girlfriend Marion Gehlker (pictured above) is attractive and brainy, seeming to be quite his equal or possibly superior.
This website was born on January 2nd, 2005. It is currently hanging in the balance while we decide what format to use to move forward, perhaps a weblog or "blog"?
